ok first i'll start by sayin what i got... i have a pioneer p9300 hu that i just put in, pioneer 4 ways in the doors, pioneer 3 ways in the rear seat and 2 pioneer 10s being pushed by a 600w legacy redline amp... ok im not exactly a newb at car audio stuff but ive never really had the cash to spend on higher quality stuff and ive just been thinkin lately whether or not i have a decent system or if i need to just break down and upgrade some parts or all... just thought id get some opinions off here before i do anything though... what i have now sounds pretty good to me but ive never really heard a "quality" sound system i dont guess.... no one around here really buys the expensive stuff... most have "systems" similar to what i have except usually without the regular speaker upgrades either... just throw a sub or two on a cheap amp with a hu and go bumpin... ive always wanted good sound quality but dont really know what equipment to buy to get this... any help and opinions are great... sorry this is kinda long.... thanks everyone.. dash

i have an orion 2500D pushing (2) RE SX subs and everyone that sits in the car swears by these subs. Just to give you an idea of how good they sound 3 of my friends now own RE subs because they like the way mine sound.
How much you looking to spend on an amp/sub/box combo? What yr car?
BTW hows that HU working out for you? :D

I would grade your equipment as the very bottom of middle grade. It's not flea market swap meet quality, but it's FAR from top end. What exactly is it you are looking for? How does your setup now sound and how would you like it to sound? Just be as descriptive as possible. What kind of music do you listen to? Are you looking for more bass? What are your 4 and 3-ways running off of now? The headunit? How much would you be looking at spending? I know. I know. Not too much, but I need a figure to start with. A full blown show quality SQ setup could EASILY cost you $5k. If you just want to spend a couple bills, I suggest selling your 4-ways and replacing them with a quality component set. If you have a little more to spend, say 5-6-7 hundred, sell the 3-ways and throw in a pair of these all powered off an amp such as this one. If you can spend more then that, I'd step up on the components to something like this . If you can spend more then THAT, just lemme know. :D :D

Yeah, that amp you have is junk. The headunit is nice tho, how much are you looking to spend on the new setup? What are you looking to do with the system? After you answer the basic questions we can help you more.2005 Cavalier LS Sport M5
http://members.cardomain.com/firefighter8615

haha the head unit is really nice... thanks again bro... ok i would prolly be looking to spend not like the $5k or anything but a few bills wouldnt be outta my range...prolly 5 to 6 give or take a little... i listen to pretty much any kind of music really... not a lot of country but anything else is tight... i actually listen to more rap in my car... haha so shoot me im a white guy that likes rap.. haha j/k... im not exactly sure what im looking for sound wise but i do realize that it could be a lot better then it is. right now i have the 2 10s in a sealed box and put some of the stuff in it thats like cotton stuff.. hard to explain and only did cause a friend recommened... not sure what it actually does sound wise... its just like a regular rectangle box that i have just kinda sittin on top of the ttop holder things with the speakers pointed down... yeah all my other speakers are runnin off the headunit at the moment... sorry im skippin around just tryin to get all the questions answered so ya'll can help out... i wouldnt be lookin for MORE bass actually but maybe more quality bass ya know.. prolly the amp huh?... im not really lookin for a show quality system but mostly just want better sound quality then i have right now...disclaimer: \"warning.. this post may contain somewhat of a funny comment if read properly... take my comment out of context at your own discretion...\"

Well to take full advantage of a sub i say go with a ported box the bass in my opinion is a lot "boomier" and in my opinion i would pick a ported box over a sealed any day.
Look at some HX2 subs go with some 12's they go for like 120 a peice from www.ikesound.com
then get either Orion 1200 or a Viper 1200 either of those is an excellent choice to push the subs.

With that budget, I recommend the three items I linked you to earlier. (CDT components/mids and amp) and a new pair of subs. For subs... there are a bunch in that price range. Rockford Punch HX2, Alpine Type-R or Type-S, Kicker CompVR... the list is long. Check Ebay for your best prices. Sell the gear you have now on there too! Take that money and buy a matching amp for the subs!
EDIT: Also, if you do end up doing the above, post the model number of that amp before you buy the subs. Wanna make sure you get the right version of what ever model you decide.
