Hey all, Im an employee at Best Buy, and I was talking with the installer and he said all I need to install an amp with my system is a line converter if I keep the stock head unit. Is this right? I was told on multiple occasions I would need the PAC OEM-1 adapter. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Line converter with Monsoon System?

That system has an external amplifier. The output of the head unit is somewhere in between speaker and line level outputs. You would need some kind of level matching device. Either an EQ with a line driver or something like the PAC adapter.
Tell the guy at Best Buy that a line level convertor is to convert SPEAKER level output to LINE level. He doesn't know you have a non-standard output. Don't let him sell you that thing. You'll need something better.

Yeah a line converter works. I got an IEC AULOC one from best buy and i got Metra 70-1858 and 71-1858 adapters. One plugs into the HU, one into the wiring harness. Then you just wire the 2 connecters together and do all your wire splicing and cutting on the adapter wires so the stock harness stays uncut.
I think brian ment it wouldnt work if you connected it after the amp, If you connect it to the wire before the factory amp, its works just fine.
Adapters were like 10$ each and the converter was 20$ From what ive seen, the pacoem1 thing is 80$!? My ways the same type of thing except you need to know how to put wires together.
