You are going to want an amp that is 1 ohm stable. Your woofers have dual 4 ohm coils, so you will want to wire them in parallel and then wire the two woofers together in parallel, for a final load of 1 ohm. How much are you looking to spend? I'm sure you want the best bang for the buck huh? If so, check out the JBL BP600.1 ($165) It will give each of your subs 300WRMS and is stable to 1 ohm. If you want to spend more..... just let me know....

I'm not sure if the Alpine's are 1 ohm stable. But I'm sure naptown will tell you they are! With his dual 2 ohm type-r and the m200 ;)

You do have a single 10" dual 2 ohm type-r correct?

quote:
so..... If it's wired for 2 ohms can i leave it that way or should i make it 1 ohm???? Can you tell i REALLY am a rookie?

You have two 10" subs that have two 4 ohm coils each. Your choices are 1 or 4 ohms. To get the most out of your amp, you will want to run at 1 ohm. Wire all 4 positives together and then run it to the positive ouput on the amp. Do the same for the negatives.

So yeah 96Firebird offered some insight but I think you might be getting confused. My suggestion is going with the Alpine MRD-M amps (if you can afford them). They are made for those subs. I have two of the same speakers, except the 12's and I have one MRD-M300 hooked to each sub. You could probably get away with getting a 500 and hooking it to both subs, that would sound killer.
96Bird, not sure if Alpines site says that they are 1 ohm stable, but they arent, I blew 2 trying to find out..1999 C5
2000 Ford Lightning
Don\'t hate me because I\'m awesome

You will want to buy the dual 2 ohm version of subs. Then you will wire them both together for a final 1 ohm load. (use the method I showed you earlier) Now, you are looking for an amp that is 1 ohm stable. I recommend the JBL BP600.1 . ($165 new off Ebay) This will give each woofer roughly 300WRMS.
