Tar Paper for Sound Dampening (sounds too good)

So I was told by a couple of people that back in the day they just used tar paper to line their floors with and that worked perfect for dampening (it's also $15 a roll which will cover a whole roof!). I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Thanks

i have a couple rolls of this stuff called hail and ice paper .. it goes on rich peoples house on top of the tar paper.. it is made of similar elements that are in most sound deadening ... its base element is asphalt.. just like what tar paper is made except its doesnt emit the toxic harmful odor...it works great ..it comes in rolls just like dynamat .. sticky on one side .
o yea dynamat is made from asphalt too....

if u do a search u should be able to locate it.

I used Peal n Seal for Lowes. Workes exactly like that. $30 for 2 rolls of it. That was enough to do my whole trunk 2 times

the stuff i have is called POLYSTICK MU its other name is polyglass.... should be a cpl manufacturers out there that sell it.

only thing is.... if u live in say texas... in the summer everyday when u get into ur car... ur going to smell it....

sounds like we are on the same page...

i used some stuff made by a company called "Cold King" - its heater ducting wrap. not sure what asile it was in at Lowes..but thats where i got it. cost me 45.00 for three rolls, used two to do the trunk interior (still havent done where the spare tire sits or anything like that)

lemme put it this way. with my cutout capped and the doors/windows closed you can hardly hear the exhaust at idle and even at throttle..at WOT it gets slightly loud, but nowhere near where it used to be. i only have to turn my radio up to 15 to blast out the occupants, used to have to go to 20 before i put in the stuff. its basically the same as all the sound deadeners out there, foam with a aluminum sheet on top of it, adhesive.

gee is texas hotter than florida ??
it gets pretty hot here i dont smell nothing.
