• Amp recomendations...

I was going to go with all Rockford amps, but I've changed my mind since, so now I need some suggestions. Right now I have 2 10" JL W3 D2V2's, and a set of Audiobahn 6002 components. Of course please keep price in mind. I was also wondering how amps like Profile, US acoustics, and others are so cheap and claim so many watts? Are they worth the money, or are they unreliable? What does anyone think of Memphis Audio? The headunit is a Pioneer DEH-6400. Thanks for any suggestions.

US Acoustics looks like a good brand to me, but that's just from reading the specs on them. I've never seen an article or heard any word of mouth testimonials. The CEA has instituted a standard for power ratings on amplifiers, eliminating 'cheater' amps like Phoenix Gold and Eclipse. I think it's great, the power rating on the amp is what you get. I'd suggest looking at Premier, Alpine, JL Audio, Rockford Fosgate. They build good stuff.

Just use the basic rule of economics....you get what you pay for.

I've actually had JL, Alpine, and Rockford, great stuff, I was just looking for something a little different, I'm always changing my mind. So new2thegame, what do you think of the Bazooka amp? What kind of subs do you have hooked up to it?

If you say these companies make great stuff, I say stick with that. Personally, I have a RF 500S for my subs and a RF 301X for the rest, mounted on a Subthump rack without the endcaps for the sake of mounting room. No overheating problems whatsoever.

Pass on the Profile amps. Of the three I owned, only one of them made it through the first 12 months. Their components just aren't up to snuff.

Those bazooka amps look pretty weak, 350 PEAK power at 4 0hms, and 500 at 2, they would be good if it were RMS. I'm very impressed with my JBL amp, I'd recomend it.

Did you just say that your sub has a linear excursion of about 51mm? Are we talking about your Alpine Type R's still?
