memphis_raines, what speakers do you have hooked up to your 300X and what kind of subs on the 500S?

Xmax on the SWR1221-D is 13.35mm. Xmax on the SWR1241-D is 13.87mm. There's no need to make guesses like "about 2 inches" when the numbers are published.

We all know that you can exceed the published numbers if you run 500W through a driver rated at 300W. Does anyone think that's a good idea though?

According to the box in the link, it is 500 max at two ohms, not RMS.

My JBL amp is the BP600.1, defintaly one of the best you can buy for the money. I bought because it had a lot of power for the money, and Infinity is my brand of choice, and JBL are the amps Infinity uses. Pounds VERY hard, I'd guess upper 140's DB's. The Coustic amp is the 481 QE I couldn't be any more pleased with it. I have it running in 2ohm, so I have it putting out 60 x 8 RMS, sound quality with my speakers is amazing, as well as loud.

Edit: Coustic amp looks very nice as well, the bottom half has like a mirror finish, and is very shiny.

When a power is RMS amps almost always state it is RMS. On that box it doesn't say RMS once. Here's a link to the bazooka site for that amp , where it says power, it never says RMS.....now here's a link to a better bazooka amp , see how it specifically says that it is RMS power? I saw that amp you're talking about at circuit city when me and a friend were building a system for his girlfriend, and asked the guy if that was RMS power, he wasn't sure, and went and looked it up and said no, it wasn't.

Hey Down.....sorry it took so long to get back to you.....I have RF Fanatic Q components in the doors and Alpine Type S 6 1/2" 2-ways in the backseat panels for a little rear fill, all running from the 301x. BTW, the Alpines are outstanding speakers for the price....about $60-$65 from Indoaudio, and they play LOUD with hardly any distortion. Then I have 2 10" Alpine Type R's in a Milhouse box getting 250 watts each from the 500S, which won't shatter any windows, but still thumps pretty hard.
