  • Bad RCA's?

I recently noticed that my subs weren't hitting as hard as they normally were, and checked out the amp and noticed that the right input RCA was broken in half at the connector. A friend had a spare RCA set, so we ran the new RCA and everything seemed fine. Now it periodically reverts to not hitting hard. It only does this after my system has been turned off, never while listening to music. I keep checking the connections for the RCA's on the amp as well as the CD player and they seem to be good connections. When the subs aren't hitting hard, they can be turned up so they do, but i have to turn it to about volume 30 to get the bass I normally do at 10, which means my treble is completly drowning out the bass. Any ideas?

With the RCA's still plugged into your amp, gently wiggle them around and listen to hear if your subs get louder. Maybe one of the RCA inputs on the amp came loose (broken solder joint) when that RCA broke in half. Was something dropped on it or did it just come apart on its own?

I once had a similar problem when I found one of my RCA's had been pinched by a piece of trim. What I found was if just one RCA worked, I only had half the bass. But with both the RCA's (left and right) working, I had full bass again. If you can find another set of RCA's laying around (even a cheap set like used for home audio) and if its not to much trouble, try temporarily stringing another set from your HU to your amp and see if that helps.

Probably from something dropping one it, a couple of friends and I were messing around switching some subs and stuff recently so i figured it happened then. I'm gonna try and string a new one after i buy it tomorrow
