  • Bazooka Mounting??

Ok, I'm getting a 10" Bazooka tube installed next week (I'm not doing it myself b/c I lack the time, tools and patience at the moment). The installer is squemish about doing anything across the back where the gas tank is (as he should be). Since I have T-Tops that's the only place I can put the tube. How can a bazooka tube be mounted on that back area without screwing thru the gas tank??

    Thanks
    Jason

My amp is mounted on top the gas tank with no problems at all.

Assuming the 10" tube will fit under the back window (it should be close) you just need to put something underneath the carpeting back there. A foam pad (i have this)or insulation of some sort will work for an amp; but that tube is bulky and heavy! Maybe a piece of wood would provide enough support. Then the screws can just be installed as normal.

Mounting over the tank: Amps i wouldn't think twice about, you'll be fine if you do it right...but that bazooka tube mounted there, it'll be tough to make it fit while also putting enough support underneath that carpeting. Let us know.

So are we talking like a 1/2 inch to 1 inch piece of plywood for support?

i dont know much about the bazooka, but some sub enclosures similar to the bazooka want you to mount the tube some fixed distance from a fixed surface. over the gas tank might not be the best place -- very little to either side that is flat to reflect.

however, if it sounds good to you in the location (you should be able to test it w/o mounting it) there are some posts on the advanced forum about cutting an access door for the fuel pump in this general area. you should be able to get an idea of how much space you have before screwing into the tank.

Best place to mount a Bazzoka sub is on your Desk and take a picture of it and mount it on Ebay- Ive seen every size and version of these subs, they arent the worst out there but they are damaging to hearing. Due to the style of creation of sound over time ( even though they arent very loud ) they will damage your hearing.I recomend you sell it on Ebay for 100 bucks or so and buy A sony Xlpod sub. They would aweomse in our cars, and u can get one for about 60 bucks. get an amp and box and around 100 bucks more and uve got something worth listening to.

Edit : I dont mean to diss on the setup, dont take it pesronaly Im just tryin to look out for you. Ive never known of anyone that has bought Bazzokas and kept them- they either A break or B they get sick of how aweful they sound after 4 months. They sound good at 1st ( but tahts only cause you havent had the extra Bass )

Thanks for the advice guys but I changed my mind anyway. I'm gonna wait and get something a little more finished just couldn't bring myself to have that big ol' thing sittin back there looking like some sort of funny little rocket. I'm kinda glad I I changed my mind after hearing about that hearing damage thing!!

Thanks again for the advice guys
