ok i have one....and its a two piece unit

one is the camera that transmits wirelessly to the other piece, which is a receiever

basically, the camera needs an ignition power wire somewhere. im thinking of mounting the camera above the license plate.

i cant figure out how to run the wiring into the car. Only thing i can figure is take out one of the taillights, run the wire down there, somehow get it to the license plate area (plumbing snake or something? coathanger?). What about taking the bumper off to run the wires? how hard is that to do with basic tools?

also, anyone know how to remove the trunk hatch lock. I kind of wanted to put the camera where the lock is (part where the key goes in. Its like the perfect size. the camera is a little smaller than a quarter.

let me know how you guys think i should wire this up.

    thanks

i have the camara in my rear key whole, all you will need to do is take off the bumper and drill a little bit bigger whole there and it will fit right in. no one can tell either which is a plus to. what kind of camra did you get?

i'll hit you up on aim hehe.

it was shipped from hong kong, color, fairly low lux (forget the actual #, but should be pretty decent in the dark too).

if i put it in the keyhole i dont really need wireless but eh

it was cool and only 10 bucks more than the wired one

whole thing was like 50 bucks.

on a side note....the rain stopped so i installed my new dvd/vcd/mp3/tv tuner player. Works great, cept theres a tiny whine when i turn the dvd unit on, and you can only hear it when stuff is muted. Also, it cant get a good tv signal, but thats because i dont have an antenna on it yet. if anyone can recommmend a decent coaxial antenna let me know.

I was wondering the same thing. I've got a device glued to my windshield that does this same function - its called a mirror (J/K).

All kidding aside, it sounds like an interesting project. Keep the board updated with what you do.

i have seen people drill a small hole in there license plate and put the camera there and use the license tag light as power.

i was thinking of using the power for the license plate light, but isnt that only live when your headlights are on?

the camera is for two things. one, backing into tight spaces/parallel parking etc. but mostly two) mobile video is a pretty huge fine, but being able to switch it to a backup camera and saying "officer i use it because my back window has dark tint and its an extra safety feature" can get you out of a ticket.

Until he gives you a ticket for having illegal tint! Use your reverse lights for power.
