  • What size fuse to use with power inverter?

I'm going to throw my PS2 in my car for the summer. I already have the power inverter cut so that I can hard wire it. My question is, what size fuse to put in between the inverter and the battery? Just to clarify a gray area...I just have to fuse the power wire and not the ground wire right? Thanks for any help.

I'm pretty sure your inverter has fuses in it.

if your going to hardwire it to the battery you MUST fuse it, or risk a the cable catching on fire.

And fusing a ground is no-no.

The inverter should have internal fuses, but you must always fuse for the smallest wire size in the circuit between the draw and the source.

I suggest running 8awg straight from the battery with a 50amp fuse or breaker just to protect the wire from catching fire.

Do I just wire the 8awg and the power wire from the inverter together?

dude i got out my Instruction Manual for my Power Inverter, and the only thing it said was to use #8 awg cable. there is no word on a IN LINE fuse.

                But better safe then sorry.

Theoretically yes..... Consult the instructions to be sure, but that sounds right to me.
