You will be very happy with the 7897. I have had it for over a year now, no problems what so ever. I like it alot and it has a lot of great features that let you command everything right up front; electronic crossovers, digital time correction etc... Anyways, you should be very satisfied with it.

a lot of times it comes out to around 2 volts on the preouts.

i'm pretty sure eclipse is generally right on the mark with theirs, as is alpine.
pioneer has gotten pretty good and i wouldnt' doubt that they are close to that.

anything else probably won't be close.
But wait a minute. That's not what you said. You said "they just rate theirs in a different method and it doesn't come out to the true method rating that other cd players keep as a standard. blah blah blah." So which is it? What's this different method they use?

I honestly don't know much about who's voltages are accurate or not. Probably the only way to determine what the RCA voltages "truly" are would be to view the companies posted specs for each model. This way no guessing would be involved? 4volts or 20volts, just so its got some kinda voltage lol I don't care.
