I installed new 6.5" pioneers into the doors and they are not as loud as the stock speakers. How come?

Monsson sound system runs off a 2 ohm system, while 98% of the aftermarket speakers run off a 4 ohm system so they are not compatible and do not sound right.

I know its a pain in the ***... my front doors are both blown.

your system is running at 4 ohms now, if you installed the pioneers.

4 ohms = 1/2 the power of the 2 ohms stock.

"yes"= running new wire (bypassing monsoon amp) from new head unit to your new 4-ohm speakers.

Yeah you have to bypass the amp for this...

im being told on other message boards that most head units only put out around 20-25 RMS so it wouldn't be enough to run the pioneers. Is this true? If i just run it through the monsoon amp, will it sound better?

Your stock door speakers were (2-ohms). The Pioneer speakers you now have in the doors are (4-ohms).

If you wire the Pioneer speakers up to your cars factory (Bose/Monsoon Amp), the factory amp will see a (4-Ohm) load thus only being able to put out roughly "1/2" of its rated power. (This is why your new Pioneer door speakers are only "1/2" as loud).

For the factory (bose/monsoon amp) to put out its "full" rated power, it needs to be presented with a (2-ohm) load. (This is why the factory door speakers were (2-ohms).

If you feel the RMS power from an aftermarket head unit isn't going to be enough power for your Pioneers, you may want to use an aftermarket amp just to drive the door speakers.
