I searched about 8 pages worth and couldn't find anything.
I'm looking to get ONE sub, I've been 12 would be the best size. I listen to a lot of metal with double bass, but also a lot of rap. I don't want anything too powerful, just so I can hear it in my car. I want something that makes a clean sound. Willing to spend around 250-300. It's a 91 firebird. thanks
Well he said he has a '91 firebird, so subthump is out of the question. You can get some really nice subs for that much money. For the money, I think the Oz Audio Matrix Elite is the best sub for the $$$ in high end audio. You can get them NIB for $180 on ebay.
Eclipse 8443, CDT ES-620s in doors (Clarion APX401.2), IEK, CDT 6X in rear(HU), Image Dynamics ID10v.3D.4 in stealthbox(Clarion DPX1001.2)
http://www.sounddomain.com/id/larryfirebird33
borla cat-back, FTRA, whisper lid
Hey man why you looking to go with just 1 sub? Just my opinions but i just cant have 1 of something.
Like subs, i gotta have the pair. Screens i gotta have the pair etc.
I think the sould will be loder with the pair, but if your looking to go with just one sub for your 91 firebird then you might want to do a free air sub.
I do 3rd gen stuff too so subthump is not completely out of the question . I have a dual 12 setup for your car. It's easier to put two subs in that car than just one because there's not a space for a stealth. I could probably build a half box if you really only wanted one sub. Here's what my dual 12 box looks like if you're interested http://www.subthump.com/images/3rdgen/3rd2.jpg
STEVE, my fault man. I thought I was certain about you guys not doing 3rd gens. Sorry - that was completely my fault.
On a side note - Steve at subthump makes some good boxes.
does sub thump have a box for just one 12, and also what kind of amp should I be looking at? and please help me out with the type of box, ported or sealed and what not
I used 1 12" sub in my old 91 Camaro. I went with a small sealed box and placed it way deep down in the trunk area (pic). It sounded really good even though it was just one sub. If you're not looking for boomin' bass, one 12incher will be fine.

No problem my man. I dabble in 3rd gen stuff. Sometimes when I get extemely busy with the 4th gen stuff, I pull all the 3rd gen stuff off the site temporarily. It's back up right now. ;)
But yeah, I can do a 1x12 setup. But I agree with the consensus that you might as well go with two eventually. Like Anthony says, you gotta have a pair.
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
