I just got a new sub and amp and I got everything down except wiring the amp to the sub. I have an 12" Audiobahn alumq sub and a JBL 600.1 amp. The sub is a 6ohm dual voice coil sub. The amp have 2 speaker outputs. So I was thinking just to wire each output to each vocie coil? Does that sound right? And if that way isnt right whats the best way to get the most power out of the amp? and not damaging the sub
thanks
The 600.1 is a mono or single channel amp. As you mentioned it has two speaker leads, positive and negative. I'm pretty sure that amp will handle a 3ohm load so you can can just run the voice coils of the sub in parallel. Parallel wiring cuts the individual coil impedences in half. That way each coil is getting roughly 600 watts at a total impedence of 3ohms
You should check your sub's manual for a wiring diagram. But typically parallel wiring is sorta like this
amp+________+vc1_________+vc2
amp-________-vc1_________-vc2
Hope that helps. BTW the single terminal on the box should be plenty in this case.

Yeah, just like Steve said. All sub's positive to positive on amp, all negative to negative. It doesn't matter to which of the 4 outputs on the amp you hook them up to, just so long as you use one positive and one negative. Even though the JBL amps have 4 speaker outputs so it looks like two channels, it's still just one channel.
Anyway, to the point. Since that sub has dual 6-ohm voice coils, it will only present a 3ohm load to the amp. That means you will be getting 450watts RMS, not the full 600.
Oh the way it looks on the amp it made it look like i need to use both out puts. So if I just use one of them I will still get the full power from the amp?

Chameleon Green is aparantly more familiar with that amp so I'll let him verify that. Did you get a manual with it? Do you have any pics yet? I just have a feeling that the sub is gonna pound like crazy

Yea im checking out the manual now. The wiring kit is coming monday so I am installing everything then. I am going away for a few days and then ill take some pics and send them to you. Even with 450watts you think it will pound pretty hard? I would like to get the full 600watts out of it but i guess I cant. After I install it ill write you a email and let you know how it goes
You can bridge that amp using the outer positive and negative leads (if im not mistaken) cause its designed to be used as a mono block amp. And if you wire the sub in paralell you can drop it to a 3ohm speaker and effectivly double its output. And the alum subs can take the abuse.
READ and REREAD the owners manual for both the sub and amp. Also make sure you have the right sized box. The wrong encloser will make a good combination sound like ****.

Hey megabass I installed everything today and it all looks and sounds great. I am very happy with the box and would tell anyone with a camaro or fbody that if they need a box then get it from you. The sub hits really hard I havent turned it way up yet to see how hard it can pound. When you stand behind the car everything shakes and rattles and you can hear some air being pushed out from the back trunk. My trunk when it closes you can move it up and down a lil bit. You have any idea on how to fix this? I am going away for 3 days so when I get back ill take some pictures and email them to you
I'll be waiting on those pics. If the sub is new, then I'd take it easy for a couple weeks till it breaks in. As for as your trunk lid moving up and down: try adjusting those black rubber stoppers on the bottom side of the lid. Unscrew them a lil' bit. :D
Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
