What 12" solobarics do you have? (Model number?) Are they the older round framed or the newer square framed ones?)

There is a lot more to tuning than just popping a port into the box. I know the L7s are recommended to have a slot port because of the large area the port needs to be. So if this place wasn't going to custom build it with slots, then I wouldn't touch it. But that's just me.

I'm pretty picky about my vented boxes being done the way the manufacturer suggests. If I were guessing, I'd say the guy that quoted you the $300 box planned on doing it the right way. It's too bad you don't live close because I would fix you up for less than that.

if you buy that generic ported box your basicly buying a sealed box with holes in it due to the fact that you dont know what brand/series sub its ported to. For all you know it could be ported to a Pyriamid sub or to the high end XXX sub. You just dont know.

When you have a box ported/vented to your subs it maximizes the subs output, so that your getting the full potential from it.

I got my custom box vented to the exact specs to my subs and amp rack for $200.00 at my local audio shop. And let me tell you it pounds, i had a sealed box that i purchaes from steve, i dont mean to knock his boxes but we all know there is no comparing sealed to ported. If you want to keep it simple then just go with a box from steve.

SO I should ask them then what it was made for with out tell them what I have so they dont just tell me that and measure it to the specs in the book my subs came with, then I will know if its made for my sub or not and can figure out where to go from here.
