  • Factory system wired for CD changer?

I found someone local to me selling a CD changer out of a 2000 SS, but I'm not sure if I would have to run a cable to hook it up. Does anyone know if a 2002 Camaro with the standard non-Monsoon four speaker system is prewired for a CD changer?

Check near the driverside rear panel...you should be able to find a cord that will plug right in.

The factory CD-Changer wiring was already there in my 02 bird; however. I do have the monsoon system. Never hurts to look though, like speedyV6 said, it would be located underneath the drivers side sail panel wayyyyyy in the back hatch area. Should be wrapped up in foam and tape.

I was looking and I can feel something wrapped in foam and tape in the Firebird that is probably the hookup for the changer, but there's nothing in the Camaro. It must only come in the cars with the Monsoon system.

Makes sense because that there wouldn't be any stereo wiring back there, and there wouldn't be any reason to have it on the harness for the standard system when you can't get a changer without the Monsoon.

What factory unit is in the dash of your Camaro now? (tape or CD player?)

This idea is a long shot but maybe you could remove the "CD-Changer Wiring Harness" from your Firebird and put it in your Camaro. Not sure if that harness simply runs "separate" along the entire driver's side or if it's all entwined with other wiring. I'll go take a look at mine and see.

              It's a CD player.

I could order the harness for like $30-40, but it's not worth it to me. I'm pretty sure the harness is entwined with some other wiring, and I wouldn't tear apart the interior to save money. I just figured I could pick the changer up cheap if it would plug right in, but I don't want to go through the trouble of running wires.
