You will probably get better sound if you buy a seperate amp, as long as its not a cheap one. I have a MTX Thunder4122 120w amp (200w in dynamix mode) powering mine and it sounds great. If your getting an amp for your speakers too then the one with the amp built in would be good for saving space. Either way, you will get really good sound/bass for just one 10" sub.Black 1996 3.8L Firebird A4
--------------------------
Custom CAI, Flowmaster Dual Exhaust, 160 Deg Thermo, BMR ShockTower Brace
JVC mp3 HU, two 12\" Infinity Kappa Perfects, Infinity 6.5\" components, JBL 600.1 & 80.4 amps
Pics

Yes, get the un-amped version. Then go buy yourself a nice aftermarket mono amp to power the sub. You can find great deals on used amps on ebay. Good luck
