• Advice?

Ok i have a 94 camaro hatchback with 4 6 3/4" Sony XS-F1721 speakers and a Sony CDX-L550X headunit. I decided that I just wanted some more bass and I saw that $10 q logic dual 10" custom fit box for sale on here and just couldn't resist. So I got it. Now I am wondering exactly what would be a good sub to get? I would like to stay under probably $80 a sub with $100 being the max. Then I am trying to find ther right amp to power that. Probably under $150 for the amp if possible? $200 being max? Someone recomended a Rockford Fosgate Punch 301S amp. I honestly do not know the average prices of this stuff. I really need to stay as cheap as possible. I can sacrafice a little quality because I am in high school and am 17. So I don't have much cash.

Also I was listening to some of my friends that said you need to take the bass out of the 6 1/2" speakers? You put something on the wire or something? I really have no clue. Also I heard that you can amp your door speakers too? like all 4 of em.

BTW I am metal head I love metal and that is pretty much all I listen too.

    The box I got was...

If there is something I missed to say or something... just say. I'm really new to this.

ok well you can start your search on ebay or www.ikesound.com they have some good stuff there.

I would suggest a pair of subs about 300 watts RMS a peice for a combined power of 600 RMS total.

Then for the amp you can go with a JBL 600.1 and i belive they sell for $179.99 on www.ikesound.com

You will also need wiring, 4 gauge wire should be enough for your amp.

      Thx for the reply.

I was wondering if like anyone had any specific kinds they could show me. I really dont know what to look for. I was leaning towards RF subs with a RF amp? I dont know. A kid in my school is selling a 800 watt amp for $150. All i know about it is that its kenwood.

Also how does wiring work exactly? I hear that the wiring can be pricey.

Used is fine and so is ebay. Someone said that ebay would be the cheapest route.

Yeah some wiring can be pricey, it just depends mostly on the brand name and where you buy it. Ebay would probably be your best bet for good prices on wire. You'll pay top dollar at places like b.buy and c.city.

I was wondering if I should just stay with Sony and get Xplod subs with an Xplod amp. However I've heard that Sony really isnt the best in the car department. Im not sure. How is Sony? Would it be worth it to just stick to Xplod? Keep it all the same?

If not that then I think Rockford Fosgate.

I would stay away from Sony personally. If you want to get some good subs go with audibahn or JBL. They have some good speakers for lower cost.

These are $100 a piece but the 2nd speaker is %50 off so that is $150 for 2. Not a bad deal. 400 watts RMS. They also have some 300 watts RMS for $80 with the same %50 off deal.

DAMN IT! I took 45 minutes to write you a nice reply, but then get an error due to all the hyperlinks. Press back and my whole reply IS GONE!

Basically, you need to decide if you ever plan to add another amp for your four other speakers. Some companies may not make a nice 4-channel to match your sub amp. Example, the counterpart for the JBL BP600.1 would be the P80.4. Which only does 40WRMSx4@4ohms. Better then headunits, but not high power by any means. Also, run the wiring needed for two amps now, so you don't have to start from square one when you upgrade. Just plan ahead is all I'm getting at. ;)

I recommend JBL's newer GTO line of amps. The GTO601.1 and GTO75.4 I believe? And Sony isin't so hot when it comes to car audio. For that price range, I recommend Alpine Type-R's or Fosgate Punch HX2's. The Type-R's might be a little better due to your small box. Oh and read our FAQ thread. A link is at the top of this forum. Well I know someone who is selling a kenwood 800 watt amp and 2 10" kenwoods at like 500 RMS. It would be $130 for the amp and $40 a sub. That sound good? Plus a friend would help me install it for free.

Also I've been hearing this box Isn't the best. Would dynomating the box help? Is there anything I could do to make that box better?
