  • 10" L7 and 1400watt amp

    I have a 10" Kicker Solobaric L7 that handles 75-600watt and a Soundstorm 2 channel 1400 watt amp(700x2)
Will it be safe to run 700 watt from 1 channel of the amp to the L7? It wont blow the sub or anything will it?

What impedence are the voice coils on the L7? You may not be getting 700WRMS out of the amp....

It depends on witch one you got..

if you got the dual 2 ohm or dual 4ohm sub

dual 4, can be wired to 2 or 8 ohms

dual 2, can be wired to 1 or 4 ohms

            I got dual 4ohms.
According to soundstorm website, the watts of the amp is...
            MAX WATTS/CH AT 2 OHMS. 700W x 2
            RMS WATTS/CH AT 4 OHMS 250W x 2
            BRIDGED POWER AT 4 OHMS 1400W x 1
So, I guess if I wire it normally, I can only get 250watt?
Should I just bridge it so I can get the most out of the woofer or will 1400watt be too much?

Ouch. You have a mismatched sub & amp combo. If you bridge the amp, chances are that the amp will need a 4 ohm minimum load. But, since you have the dual 4 ohm version, you choices are 2 and 8...
:( If I were you.....I'd save up my money and buy another dual 4 ohm L7! :D Until then, you can bridge the amp and wire the voice coils in series. You should have no worries about blowing your L7.....provided the box is well built. ;)
