non-monsoon to monsoon head unit

will a monsoon head unit work if plugged directly into a car without the monsoon option? i dont think it will because there is no amp but i can get one from a friend so I want to make sure.

The monsoon system has 8 speakers and the non monsoon system has 4.. So there is a difference there!

Monsoon - 2 tweeters,2 doors,2 rear seats,2 hatch
non Monsoon-2 doors,2 rear seats

So I dunno if the hu will work if u just add an amp because you would also need the other speakers.. I could be wrong though!

A couple of my friends tried converting and the monsoon head unit won't work with the speakers...unless they are monsoon speakers. I don't know why but I have had a lot of people tell me that they are not interchangeable (don't hold me to that though b/c I haven't tried it myself). Your best bet might be find a wrecked T/A and get the back panels and speakers out of it along with the head unit if you don't already have it.

You would definetaly need the amp to get any benefit at all from the monsoon head unit...if it is even different.

It will not work. First, for the camaro monsoon. 2 channels are actually off of the radio. They power the tweeters located in the doors. The other six channels are in the amplifier located on the passenger side rear wheel well. The amplifier powers the rest of the speakers in the system. And for the firebird monsoon, four of the channels are located in the headunit. They power the tweeters located in the doors and in the rear hatch area. The other six channels are in the amplifier located on the passenger side rear wheel well. The amplifier powers the rest of the speakers in the system.

that guys, makes sense that it just wouldnt plug right in but figured it was worth a try. i saw somewhere someone said they were the same radio and it would work fine but i didnt think that sounded right.
