  • Update** PS1+ TV tuner + LCD Visor System Going in Tomarrow

I just got a good deal on

    and

    • Built-In FM Audio Transmitter
    • Stereo Audio Outputs
    • Plug-In IR Remote Sensor
    • Wireless Handheld Remote Control
    • Dual Composite Video Outputs
    • Dual A/V Inputs with Source Switching
    • VHF/UHF Cable Compatible 125-Channel Tuner
    • 4-Channel Diversity Antenna System
    • VHF/UHF Cable Compatible 125-Channel Tuner

Now with a playstation and a TV tuner, I might want to get a screen on my side of the Car.

I want to mount it behind the steering weel on the steering column, in front of the gauges. But on a small track that goes around the column, so I can slide around so it is upside down and flip it up. So it would be hidden under the dash, when not in use. But I need a screen at a reasonable price.

I have a few questions for you...

Just curious, but why are there two ants. for your system..one for VHF and one for UHF

Do these ants. have to be mounted on the exterior of the car? If so where do you plan on mounting them?

Also how will the tv signal/reception be with this set-up?

final question...if you just buy a regular screen and connect it to the tv tuner you can then watch broadcast tv as if you were at home...correct?

This will be my first install of a tv tuner in a car. I know my tuner gets both VHF and UHF , but I dont know if that is why there is two sets of antennas. The difference in price in buying a single set and a double set was so little that I just went on the safe side and bought the double set.

The antennas go on the interior of the car and is recomended to go in the rear window. I don't want to put these here becuase I have a tinted rear window and I dont' want to mess that up. The way the antennas are suppose to be mounted they should be in L forms around the corners of the windows. I plan on removing the A pilliars and putting one side down the window frame, under the tinted glass that goes around the windshield. The other leg of the "L" formation will go allong the very top of the windshield right up next to the headliner. This way it is well hidden and not noticeable from the inside, because of the way the headliner is shaped, plus the sun visors hide this area. On the outside all the areas are tinted dark.

I don't know how the reception will be, but I figure just as good as any other bunny ear configuration. I hope for better since this seemed to be in my research the best.

Here is more info on reception http://forum.sounddomain.com/forum/u...=000379#000000

yes, this should be just like watching tv at home.

As for having my screen cover my guages, the answer is Yes, but not permanently it will be designed to slide and fold out to the way, when I am not using it. I figure I shouldn't be watching it while I am driving anyway, so why neglect the space. And I didn't want to modify the dash or the dash pad.

Well I finnaly got the TV tuner. Tommarow I will be installing it. Since I will be taking apart some of my dash and exsposing the wireing for my LCD screen and Playstation, I will take some pics of the install for all those people who requested pics when installed the LCD visor and the PS1 the first time.

                        Its gonna be sweet.

Bad news is, that I won't have the second Screen in yet, because I am running low on funds, and I have a few other projects (GFX) I want to accomplish before I get to the second screen.

                        Pics comming soon. :D

why dont you try to put the antennas in the spoiler? or at least one.. put the other in the front. I'm sure they both do the same thing, and connect to the same place on the tuner, its just for better recption
