yeah, 3 questions.
1) price range?
2) are you going to run an amp to them or are they running off of your head unit?
3) do you have the monsoon system?

I have the same question...

price: reasonable, i.e. best bang for the buck with sound quality a priority.

power: just an alpine CD head unit (it says 50W x 4)

Monsoon: NOPE, stock 1996 speakers, only thing added is the Alpine CD head unit.

I've been looking around bestbuy and sears, but it's pretty much impossible to really get a feel for the sound quality in those environment. I've been trying to find good sources of reviews for car speakers but haven't had much luck.

Oh for me, bass is cool but don't want excess. I really want good speakers that represent the entire range.

1) Not too sure yet ... depends on what I need to spend!
2) Again, not too sure. Which would be better? I'd probably just run it off my Sony Xplode head unit (I know, I know ... but it was free!)
3) Nope, stock crap ... not monsoon

Not gonna get much bass without a subwoofer. Even a single 10" should out bump four 6 1/2"s playing all frequencies. Not to mention you could then filter bass out of the 6 1/2"s and clean up their sound a bit. If you don't have the money for a sub/amp combo now, go with the four 6 1/2"s and leave your options open. (ie. Run large enough power wire to power two amps now, d-block, etc.) Then when you get the cash for the sub, should be nearly plug and play.
Figure:
$115 front components
$80 rears
$150 4-channel amp
$40 4-channel amp kit

Those are just ballpark figures. You might be able to go a LITTLE lower, but the sky is the limit! :D
