i'm still learning about car audio and all that good stuff, if i plan on running 2 subs, do i need a 2 channel amp or can a 1 channel amp power both subs?
also, if the subs are 800 rms each (audiobahn alum10q's), how much power should the amp put out?
    thanks guys

well, a monoblock amp will push 2 10"'s easy if you have the right amount of power. monoblocks are meant to be used with bass. If the rating of the speakers are 800wrms then the amp you will need is 1600wrms or 3200peak watts

are you sure the speakers arent 800w peak and 400wrms?

Even though the subs can handle 800rms, that doesn't mean you absolutely have to give them 800rms. It all depends on the box you put them in.

Exactly. Yes, you can (and should) use a 1 channel amp. Wire the speakers together and then to the amp. Are your subs dual voice coil? Do they have 2 sets of positive and negative connections on them? Or just 1 pos. and 1 neg. ? Do you know the impedence of them? How many ohms they are? Once I get that info I can tell you how you should wire them together. How much $$$ are you looking to spend on the amp?

Those Audiobahn Alums have 6ohm DVCs.

With a 1.5 final load, i'm thinking JBL 1200.1. They test at 1400rms as opposed to the 1200 rating, so 700 each should be a good right in the middle figure.
