I'd imagine the battery needs to be disconnected, so the air bag doesn't get screwed. They're probably LED's. Anybody have part numbers on these lights?

            SORRY ABOUT THE PREVIOUS EMAIL

I emailed WWW.GMPARTSDIRECT.COM and they gave me two part numbers.

            16191162-for the left control
            16191172-for the right control

I'm not sure what this includes. The exact words they gave me was, "THEY UNPLUG FRONT THE COMMON HARNESS TO THE WHEEL"

I have no clue what they mean.

those part numbers are for the full control. The full control is expensive. If you just want to replace the light you can do that on your own if you have a little do-it-yourself in you. Just pulling the battery terminal is never a bad idea when you're working on something electrical. you should probably pull the fuse for the air bags and/or let it sit for a few (like 15-30) minutes for any thing to discharge. I only did this with my grand prix so I'm not sure if it's EXACTLY the same, but the stering wheel is the same. Just pop a butter knife down the side of the switches and they will pry out. They're held in mostly just by friction so they come out pretty easy. Once they're out, you can replace the whole switch with the switch part numbers, or you can open up the switch and just replace the LED that lights up the switch that is not working. if you're not sure how to do it, take it to someone that does, you might have the wrong voltage LED which might cause some difficulties for ya.

Hope that helps ya guys. If you find this to not be true with your car, post it, I wanna know about it.

ok so i take a butter knife and pry the whole control out. how do i disconnect the controls form the wire is there some sort of harness on the back of the controls. I can get the a set of controls for 25 bucks so it should be no problem. if the car is turned off do i still have to pull out the fuse or disconnect the battery.

nope, they are bulbs (with filaments).
