• Will these components do the trick...

I need some components for the front. Currently I have some Kenwoods running - I'll migrate them to the back. I found these Kenwoods for a decent price. I will be pushing them with 100 watts per speaker and wanted to know if those would handle / sound good in that setup. BTW - its a Clarion APX 400.4 that will be pushing the four speakers. Thanks.

If your Clarion is putting out 100watts (assuming were talking 100watts of RMS power), those particular Kenwood components may not be a good choice since they can only handle 50watts RMS. I'd hate to see you buy new speakers and end up blowing them. You may want to consider some Infinity Reference components. I've read nothing but good reviews about these speakers plus they can handle 90watts RMS. There's a couple new pairs of these on Ebay right now for $74.95 'buy it now.'
Infinity Speakers

For a little more money, another component set you may want to consider is the CDT CL-61A. These are currently on sale for $149.99 at www.thezeb.com. Again, I've heard nothing but really good reviews about these speakers. In fact, I just ordered a pair for myself over the weekend.

Side note to T-Punk, 96firebird311 and others who have recommended cdt's.....I hope you guys are right about these speakers or else lol j/k :D Though I've never listened to them before, I do trust your opinions.

No worries, they're excellent drivers.

The Clarion APX400.4 is a 50W x 4 amp. The parent poster is posting peak power numbers.

It's important to note that nearly all marketing literature refers to thermal capacity (Pe) when defining the upper limit of the driver's handling capabilities. Prolonged excursions as that upper limit can still cause drivers to fail. Thermal capacity and mechanical fatigue are two entirely seperate animals.

The saving grace though, is that amplifier specs tend to be overrated anyway, so a "50Wx4" amp that feeds four 50W drivers tends to work pretty well.

Car audio is a lot more fun before you understand how it all works.

haha, i guess he forgot about you . anyway CDT is one of the best speakers i have ever heard (for car audio anyway). I dont know that his amp has enough umph to really get the best out of them. infinity is "good" but there are much better (focal, MB-quart, CDT...).

I had to come back because the god-awful advice that was getting handed out was making me throw up a little in my mouth. It was burning the back of my throat.
