Big 3 was one of the first, no word on my amp yet. Thanks for those posts though, Im sure they will be helpful to those that read this for info... or for spite

JL amp and Liquified Groud Wire

Well, got the amp back from JL. They left a note about how the engineers lauged when I sent it in the the ground wire fused in the terminal. The connection between the terminal and the board was poor. JL said that was causing the amp to get hot along with the ground wire. I hooked it back up last night and did a quick tune. I was still pulling some serious current but no hot wires. I'm going to tear out the capacitor and take a look inside, i think there's an issue in there.\" Eat Rice With Pushrods \"

My Car and What I Did http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2127313/1

4ga is plenty for that amp. New voltage that I'm pulling is 102.47A. No heating issues, no liquified wire. Without system cranked my voltage at the batery is at a constant 15.31V when system is cranked voltage reads 10.58(on a constant note). Im ordering two new Batcaps for the next upgrade. This will help prep for the other 1000/1 and 13.5 w7 to go in. Although I may not do that because I am looking to go faster and that won't happen with the addition of another couple hundred pounds.\" Eat Rice With Pushrods \"

My Car and What I Did http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2127313/1

ok guys, 1000watt amp @ 12vdc will pull approx 83.33 amps if it were perfect, well to be on the safe side round up to 85 amps. Now 1000 watt @ 13.8 is 72.47 amps round up to 75 amps. So with his car running and the stereo @ the sweet spot the amp should only be pulling 75 amps. And as for the 100 amp fuse, they really take alot to blow, throw in a cap near the amp, and its almost impossible to blow it. Maybe its just me and the field that I work in, but when you lower the voltage, the current draw also drops. Thats the whole theory behind our variable frequency drives. Lower voltage, less amp draw, less wear and tear on the motors. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong and missing something, if I am please let me know so I don't go off spouting incorrect information to the people that I talk to off the boards about their stereos.95 3.4L
http://www.myspace.com/1277388
http://www.cardomain.com/profile/altspacen
http://groups.myspace.com/camarov6

I think I'm understanding a bit more about it now. So when an amp is rated at 14.4v and standard driving conditions result in 12v, depending on the amp, either power output will decrease or current will increase? And that is based upon how stiffly regulated the powersupply is in the amp. I was under the assumption that with lower voltage came less output of the amp but now I see this to not always be the case.
