  • 6.5inch subs

You guys know if the kickers are any good? The place i am buying from says they can't get me the JLs but can get kickers. So i was wondering if i should go with those or just get JL somewhere else. What i want most out of the 6.5s is sensitivy, so all the beats my L7 in the rear misses, the 6.5s pick up.

I don't know too much about spearkers but I happened to know that my friend has a Kicker system in his GTP. He has 3 12" subs and yeah they sound great. Kicker is supposed to be high end stuff. I know because my friend gets only the good stuff(rich bastard) but I also heard from others that Kicker is good so.

Kicker is not in my category of high end. Bottom line.

Haven't personally heard the Kicker 6.5" subs, but my Adire Audio Kodas CRANK OUT the midbass. The most impressive part of my system IMHO. I really wish you could hear them for yourself. I think you'd agree with me. :D

Elemental designs has a new 6.5 sub out the EU-700 and they look pretty good. I will be getting them pretty soon so I will be able to give personal experience then but every ED product i have used thus far has been perfect. As for kicker... Never cared for their stuff (always seems sub par).

Wont be getting the 700's anymore, since i have a vert it wont fit (it would interfere with the top). So once again I am owned by the vert.

$h!t - I have been following this subject across multiple sites for days and now I find this. TPunk I hope you are still at it and not becoming "sub-verted" by the setback. I too want to upgrade the sound in my vert - especially the back.

No, It looks like it will have to go with illusion audio for my rears. It looks like they are the only ones that have a slim enough mounting depth to use. I think i will be able to fit two 8" subs back there but because of the work required i will probably hold off on the system for a little while longer.

Wow - nothing easy about it. Please do try to document the retrofit of the 8"s when you do it - it will sure help other vert owners in the future.

I dont know if you have seen it but a guy just did a write up on putting 8's in the back of a hard top. Its not hard from what i can see plus i rule when it comes to a dremel. The illusions have a mounting depth of 2.2" so i'm going to be pulling the originals out sometime in the next week or so to see what their mounting depth is. I'll keep you posted as to ease of install, any difference in installing them in the vert, clearance, and sound quality. I'm trying to get a pair right now its just taking Illusion a while to get back to me.

Very cool - I am OK with a dremel myself, it only got away from me a little when cutting out the airbox for the CAI (I used the drill bit looking cutter). So definitely let me know which attachments work the best for this mod. And no, I missed the earlier write-up but I'll look for it. Thanks
