A 4 way speaker will still have just two wires coming out of it. It will have 4 drivers per speaker [woofer, mid, tweeter, supertweeter]. The setup from an install point of view is the same.

Just as an aside, I would never consider a 4-way speaker. It's silly to think that something the size of our speakers needs to have more than two drivers on it to get the job done smoothly. Think of some of the high-end component setups: just a woofer and a tweeter. Also, these 4-ways are usually exactly the same price as the speakers with fewer drivers. I doubt they put the $$ into the additional drivers and crossover networks needed.

Terminal is correct. On that note, you looking to upgrade aren't ya? How much you looking to spend total? Maybe something like:
Focal or CDT's entry line components up front:$125
        Matching co-axils in the rear:$90
        Subthump stealth sub box:$112
        Alpine Type-R: $80
5-channel amp such as this: $210
        Wiring/RCAs:$60
        Switching the headunit?

i think with the rear speakers you might be able to get away with running off the hu amp (you dont really need rear speakers anyway). Then an old Xtant 603x amp would be perfect for one sub and high end components up front (just have to look around ebay, one will come up).
