What about that power acoustik amp though? The ov2-820... I can get that for REALLY cheap.

Oh, thanks mega btw.... my dad's friend has a business and they too are dbl dealers which is why I want to get a Power Acoustik because they only have 2 phoenix gold amps and the mono is only 2 ohm stable and their 2-channel is only lik 75 x 2 I think.

So when I wire my subs in parallel, I'm just wiring one sub to the other and then I'm wiring that one sub to a 2 channel amp bridged, right? That is where I'm getting confused because my single voice coil subs have (2) + and - terminals but it is only SVC....

Okay, but I have an alternate source for Phoenix Gold and they have 10 models of amps in all. Some of their multi channel amps are 125x2 125x4 80x4 and 100x5+200x1 I would stick with the PG over PA IMO.

Megabass, I appreciate the offer, but I don't want to spend more than $100 for the time being.

When I got home from work. I re-wired my subs and bridged 2 channels of my 4 channel amp and it sounds A LOT cleaner but obviously I need to turn them up more because they're probably getting 100 watts each.

I just want to make sure that I wired them correctly... are they in series (8 ohm single voice coil subs)

Nevermind the ghetto-ness, I'm cleaning it up when I get my new amp.

When you say each sub has (2) + and (2) - 'terminals'...are there a pair of 'terminals' on one side of the magnet AND another set wayyy on the other side of the magnet? If so, you have Dual voice coil subs. If they are in fact Single voice coil subs, there should only be (1) pair of 'terminals' next to the magnet. What may be fooling you is that there are probably two flat tabs (in the shape of an L)for both the + and the - That just makes wiring other subs to eachother easier, in example using jumper wires to hook up another sub.

Like everyone is saying, just buy a regular 2-Channel amp and BRIDGE it. (Bridging of coarse meaning to combine the Left and Right channel on the amp into One. The amp will show you which + and - to use on the Amp itself when you bridge. Since your subs are 8-ohms each, you can safely create a 4-ohm load to your amp when bridged. That's all there really is to it; nothing more - nothing less. Wire it like this and you'll be happy and trouble free....

okay cool... yea, they are deff. single voice coil and thanks for clarrifying the 2 terminal thing... I thought it JL might have put them there to make parralel wiring easier.

So the way I have them currently setup is parrallel, just ghetto..

I'm so sorry about the length of this thread, you can lock it or delete if you want, I'm just glad I finally learned all of that.

Yes the way you have it in your last picture is parallel. Feel free to ask even more questions, that's what this place is for.

just remember you get what you pay for, so there will be a huge difference in how your subs sound if you get a cheap amp as aposed to a better more expensive amp (i personally dont like PA, but you might)
