• Little annoying "pop"

I've got an "02 Firebird, all AAAlpine stuff. I ran the power wires for the deck from the fusebox under the carpeting (behind the brake/gas pedals) and up to the deck. The ground wire is grounded to the metal framing (what there is of it) of the center console. Every time I use the brake I hear a very quiet "pop" in the speakers. I can simply turn up the tunes and not hear it, but is running the power wire behind the pedals causing the brake light switch to pop in my speakers????????

Try moving your grounding point to somewhere else. One grounding place you could use is located behind either the left or right kickpanels. When you remove the kick panels, you'll see a nut that secures a few factory ground wires. Where ever you do mount your ground wire, make sure to remove any paint or primer so that it's touching raw metal.

As far as your positive wire goes...You didn't need to run new wiring all the way to the fuse box. The factory switched (+) and constant (+) wires located in the wiring harness will work just fine. The Orange wire on the factory harness will be your Constant (+) and the Yellow wire will be your Switched (+). (Note: There will be two factory yellow wires...just use the Yellow wire that's located directly next to the Orange wire on the plug).

Update:

I've installed the wiring harness connector to include use of the power antenna; the only wires i'm using in the harness are:

swithed power
constant power
power ant.

The "pop" is still there. I have not moved the ground wire yet, do you think I could simply use the ground connection in the harness?? I don't nessessarily want to run the ground over to the kick panel (good idea though) cuz don't you want all ground wires as short as possible?? I always use a round wire brush on a drill to clean all paint for a ground.

BTW, nda0602v6,
nice ride, man. I'm stuck w/a silver one.

Yes, you can use the ground wire in the harness if you want or you can ground it somewhere else. I only suggested the grounding point in the kickpanels because there's a nice sized nut there and it's attached to some beefy metal. Some of the metal under/near the center console area is pretty flimsy. Just try a few different places for ground, including the ground in the harness and see what happens. Sometimes grounds are tempermental like that.

Definately move the ground wire, and if any power wires are near it, wrap both the ground and power wires in aluminum foil.
