  • offset problems-help please

I am fairly new to car audio, at least with subs and amps. I recently got a set of infinity reference 10's and an 800 watt xplod amp (im not lookin to shake houses, just to fill in the lows). Anyways i hooked everything up and everytime i turn on the stereo i get the offset warning light--as soon as i pull the faceplate off and put it back on to reset it, the light doesnt come back on and the subs work fine. Any idea what the problem might be? Remember i am new to this so if u think it is obvious don't hesitate to say so.

PS-i have had the same problem whether bridged or not-but when bridged i sometimes get the overcurrent light too.

    Any advice is appreciated--thanks

Offset?!?!!? What the hell is that suppose to mean? It says that on your head unit? Or there is an offset light on the amp? The overcurrent light usually means that your amp is trying to play at too low of an impedence. What is the EXACT model number on the subwoofers and amp? Are the subs 2 ohm? 4 ohm? Dual 4 ohm? What? Keep in mind, most amps are only stable to 4 ohms when bridged.

like i said, im new at this, but i had been told about the impedence-the people where i bought all the equipment from said it shouldnt be a problem. And the offset light is on the amp...i will check the impedence on both, but before this i had a different amp and different subs with the same problem and i knew the impedence matched up--is there anyway i may have hooked it up wrong? Will simply crossing the positives and negatives somewhere by accident cause the problem? (Though they dont sound ****ty enough that id assume they were crossed but im not completely sure they arent)
