• Alpine Type R subs/speakers

Hey Guys

I was wondering what you guys with alpine type r gear (subs/speakers/amps) think of it. Also what do you think of the setup below.

I have:

Alpine 7894 H/U MP3 deck (I Love it!!!!)
Pioneer 3-ways in doors and rear (can't remember the model #, but they need to be replaced)

I want:

Alpine Type R 2 way speakers in the doors
Alpine Type R component speakers in the rear
Alpine Type R 10" Sub w stealth box

not sure about the amp any suggestions from you guys w 10" subs and stealth boxes?

I'm not into stereo competitions or rattling anyone else's car but mine. I just want tight responsive bass throughout the interior so when i'm rollin to sweet emotion i can feel it.

Thanks

very cool...how's the sound...and why wouldn't you reverse the component/2-way setup? I would have thought the components would sound better in the rear speaker mounts since there's a huge hollow metal cavity for them to thump in. and put the 2 ways up front in the fiberglass doors.

On a sidenote where in Indy are you? I'm originally from Carmel (born in muncie though)

Components go up front. And no 6.5"s are going to be doing any thumpin. ;) Especially, since you are using a subwoofer. No need to muddy up your mids by trying to get them to produced subbass freqs.

Why not stick with the Type-R for the subwoofer? And maybe a 5-channel amp to power everything? Or can you afford to have a 4-channel amp for your 6 1/2"s and a dedicated subamp?

i had 2 TYPE S subs, and 4 type s speakers. I HIGHLY reccomend getting an amp for the speakers in addition to the amp for the subs. I never amped the speakers and i regret it. Personally i had a friend who had 1 12" R type and he paid as much for that as i paid for my 2 10" type s subs. Mine sounded wayyy better. I dont know about the difference between Type R speakers and Type S tho.

My setup is one of the best ever heard. Components belong in the front because of staging. You need to be able and sepperate the diffrence between the mids and highs. I get so many complements on my stereo system.

For any component system you need a 4 channel amp. HU's just dont have enough RMS ratting to push speakers to their max level.

if your looking for some good door speakers for a decent price the infinity kappas go a long way. oh and do yourself a favor, if you can get componets all the way around. i have heard alpine type r speakers and they are totally decent but i found the kappas to sound better. as for subs it depends on if you want spl or sq. my neighbor is running 2 12"type R subs off an alpine 1507 amp and it sounds a little... i guess distorted or something and not overly loud either (I hate them but it could just be a bad setup). i have had better luck with jl w3 for spl w6 for sq and infinity kappa perfects for a good combo set up(if you want the best get one jl 10w7 that is the best sub i have ever heard hands down). i would deffinately suggest these over the type r's. head unit though nobody beats an alpine and i mean nobody. as for amps alpine has some cool options on their newer amps like digi read out and remote gain and the sutch but i would still recomend getting a used Xtant off ebay. my god if you want the best amps go xtant. they are known for underrated power and unbelievable sq. i had a 2200ix running my kappa doors, and a 1001dx on by 2 10" kappa perfects and it was one of the loudest and clearest 10" systems around. so i would say skip alpine on the speakers and maybe the amps, they are cool, but go for them on the head unit. i had a cda 7864 and it was full of options, not to mention an amp that rms's at 27w x4 if you dont want a seperate amp. so thats my info. sorry for the long post but had to put all my info out there
