Do any of you guys with alpine hu's run a separate power lead to the junction block instead of using the stock red power wire? Alpine reccomends this and i'm wondering if it will improve my sound. I have a 7894 HU on the factory wiring right now. any ideas?

isn't the yellow wire that is All time power? red comes from the fuse box that way the head unit isn't on all day/night running your battery down. First, are you using the head unit's internal amp? Or do you use the RCAs to an aftermarket amp?Comment

I've got a CDA-9813. I've got the power lead going to my battery. At circuit city they said it wasnt necessary, but I handed them the wiring and said to do it anyways. I think it's amazing. My speakers go loud and are always clear. Personally, I think the power lead is awesome, it sounds just as good as if there was an amp powering your speakers. How many watts is your deck? Mine is 60watt x 41996 Pontiac Firebird: A4, Flowmaster 80 Series, dual 3\" Stainless Steel tips, SLP CAI, Alpine CDA-9813 deck, Infinity speakers, Alpine Type R sub, MTX Thunder 801d amp, Tsunami 2 Farad Capacitor.<br /> <a href=\"http://www.cardomain.com/id/firebirdfury\" target=\"_blank\">http://www.cardomain.com/id/firebirdfury</a>Comment

I doubt it. And that's 60W PEAK. Probably around 27WRMS.Comment
