Do any of you guys with alpine hu's run a separate power lead to the junction block instead of using the stock red power wire? Alpine reccomends this and i'm wondering if it will improve my sound. I have a 7894 HU on the factory wiring right now. any ideas?

isn't the yellow wire that is All time power? red comes from the fuse box that way the head unit isn't on all day/night running your battery down. Im probably wrong but thought that was right. ~shrug~91 Eagle Talon Awd Turbo 5 speed FOR SALE 6000$
Looking for a Fiero GT
www.swdsm.net

I've got a CDA-9813. I've got the power lead going to my battery. At circuit city they said it wasnt necessary, but I handed them the wiring and said to do it anyways. I think it's amazing. My speakers go loud and are always clear. Personally, I think the power lead is awesome, it sounds just as good as if there was an amp powering your speakers. How many watts is your deck? Mine is 60watt x 41996 Pontiac Firebird: A4, Flowmaster 80 Series, dual 3\" Stainless Steel tips, SLP CAI, Alpine CDA-9813 deck, Infinity speakers, Alpine Type R sub, MTX Thunder 801d amp, Tsunami 2 Farad Capacitor.
http://www.cardomain.com/id/firebirdfury

Power Requirement / Fuse Type 14.4V DC (11 –16 V allowable) / 20A (ATC)
Operating Temperature (°C/°F) 60°C (140°F) to -10°C (14°F)
Maximum Mounting Angle 30° from Horizontal
Maximum Power Output (Note 1) 60Wx4
Continous Power Output (Note 2) 27Wx4
Pre Output Voltage (Before Clipping) 4 volts
Note 1: Under maximum operating voltage and input signal, into 4 ohm loads
Note 2: Per EIA-517 standard, 40Hz to 20Hz, 0.8%THD, with 14.4 volt DC Supply
God damn I'm good. 27WRMS on the nose. Look it up at www.alpine1.com if you don't believe me. And actually, feature per feature, Alpine's are one of the cheapest bangs for the buck.....

Say what you will, but I love my Alpine! Plus, it also helps that I got it $100 off retail price at Circuit City.
