I would definately stay with a ported box. If it's built exactly to the specs, it should be louder than a sealed box.
Sealed boxes can play deeper and more accurately.
Ported boxes are louder, but have a tuned frequency, and don't need as much watts to sound as loud. Generally, they can be about 3 decibels louder(twice the output) as a sealed box... oh yeah, but they're usually quite larger than a sealed box. :eek:
