• HELP... I CAN'T FIND MY...

First off I know that this topic has been talked to death and I did a search, but here is my question.

I have a 1995 firebird with the 10 speaker sound system(4 in the front doors, 2 in the back seats, 4 in the trunk)and a 7 band equalizer CD player.

My question is that every search I do says that the stock Monsoon amp is located behind the spare tire. I ripped the whole spare tire wheel out, but can't find it. Does anyone have a picture of where exactly it is. I don't see any wires around there, besides the power ant.

Since I have the 10 speakers I should have the Monsoon amp, but I can't seem to find it. I know the Monsoon system isn't the greastest system but I still want to find the Monsoon amp just to put an end to this. Is it possible that the headunit powers all 10 speakers and I don't have the Monsoon system?
Thanks :D

check your RPO codes on the inside of the drivers door. If you have UNO, that's the Monsoon system with CD. ULO is the Monsoon system with tape.

I could have swore I heard something about some monsoons that had small amps in the door panels to power the door speakers. I might be confusing this with something else though.

I just checked the codes in my glovebox and I didn't find the UNO or ULO code :( . So does the headunit power all 10 of the speakers, I never never heard of the amps being in the door. Also since I don't have the Monsoon system I shouldn't have a problem changing the speakers because of the difference in OHM's the Monsoon amp causes.

I'm pretty sure those "amps" in the doors are actually x-overs. Not 100%, but they're awfully small to be any kind of amp.

I have heard each speaker has its own amp from several sources.

When I took out my door speakers there were these little chip things that were about 1"x3". I'm not saying that it's impossible for this to be the amp, but, again, I'm fairly sure it was an x-over.

Yup, those are amps. Your 95 camaro did not have a monsoon system available. A Bose system is available in that car. With the bose system, the amplifier is actually one amplifier for each speaker ON each speaker. As you take the speaker out of the door you're also removing the amp with it. That's what the extra wires are powering.
