i wanted to get some opinions on the following amps which were recommended to me by the guy at the stereo shop: keep in mind i have 2 JL Audio 10W3v2 dual 4ohm subs already.

Power Acoustik - 980-Watt Bridgeable 2-Channel Amp

or

Rockford Fosgate - Punch 1500W Bridgeable 2-Channel Amp

How much power do you want to run? im pretty sure the w2 handles like 300 watts max rms. the jl 500/1 is a nice amp but out of your price range at $350-400. the jl 300/1 is pretty nice for about $250-300. thats 150 watts rms per channel. they might not be the most powerful but super good sound quality. when it comes to stereo stuff ebay is definately your friend. you can get all kinda stuff cheap on there.

Pyramid isnt bad I have two temporary 10's in my car powered by two mtx amps and it sounds better than my friends two sony's

I guess its all about whether you want to buy the power or the power and the name, if its cheaper I prefer just the power.

I would bet my two pyramid 10's would sound just as good if not better than those JL he has and it would cost 1/4 the price.

If I had namebrand stuff and someone with subs that I havnt heard of rattled my ears off, I would gladly show him my respect, and switch over to the speakers he has :D

I wouldnt reccomend getting any kind of rockford or kicker stuff its all garbage and way overpriced. Just do your research and you will find a amp that is right for the amps and just because its not a famous name doesnt mean its not as good.

good god are you deaf? pyramid has the worst sq in the buisness and no they are not as loud as other brands either. Obviously you have not listned to real audio equipment. if you ever heard elemental designs equipment you would find that it is a bazillion times better than pyramid, unless you truely are deaf... are you deaf?

Good call firefighter. I'd say go with a matching amp and get a JL 500/1. You can get one on ebay for ~250. They are some of the bests amps around.

thanks for the good info guys. i have just recently taken interest in the audio universe so it is all very new to me so i'm just learning the ropes. i think i am going to start looking at the JL 500/1. even though it might take me a few more weeks to gather the extra money needed for it if i can't get a good deal off e-bay then it will be worth it in the long run. i just want to make sure i do everything right the first time so that way i dont pay for mistakes down the road. i appreciate everyones input.

and sorry OneBad9D5 i'm going to pass on the amp from what these guys have said. thanks anyway.

eh?
I guess im deaf from my "non name brand" subs in my car.

If your whining isn't coming from under your hood I don't want to hear it.
Kinda sounds like your whining are YOU under your hood?

Just wondering what do you have in your car t-punk?

Matching equipment is usually always better so try the amp they suggested.

Ill give you a look at my system when I get it done. Only reason I suggested it is because I HAVE tried pyramid and like it so I was passing on a GOOD deal.

Freeser, how much do you think you would let the 500/1 go for and how soon would you part with it? e-bay might take awhile for a good deal because right now i am not really seeing any (new at least) for anything besides $390. i'm keeping my eye out and i am going to the stereo shop tomorrow to see what kind of deal they might be able to cut for me.

actually my system that should be in my car right now is not, its in three of my friends cars. this is because my car is currently being used as hurricane storage so i needed the room. I wont be putting it all back in untill around march.

Now to the Pyramid boy. Have you ever heard a really nice high end system? I'm not talking about alpine or infinity im talking about a high end system (CDT, FOCAL, Elemental Designs). If you ever do then let me know how your pyramids stack up. is this your amp http://www.cardiscountstereos.com/ca...uct+%23=PB945X if it is then you have wopping 80Wrms x 2 and they are charging half as much as you! WOW!!! that will barely run my mids/highs. great high quality company that advertises over 6 times as much power as it actually produces. Also i am not a name brand azz clown, i really dont see Elemental designs as a "name brand" do you? The only reason i bought them was because i had heard good things and i looked at the people they brought in to help them design their new line of components and i saw a great deal for ultra high end equipment. Sorry for blowing up at you but it really blows me away that you think Pyramid is great and that i go for name brands.

Whoa whoa whoa I didnt say pyramid is great I said there decent. as you look i said i have a TEMPORARY 10" sub. And thats not the amp i was going to sell to him.

The only thing i said is you dont have to buy name brand stuff to get power. I havnt tried elemental designs but if you say there good i dont have a problem with trying them out as long as they dont charge out the butt.
