well i stopped by another stereo shop yesterday and the guys recommended a few amps for me one of which was the JL 500/1 but they wanted like $450 for that so i asked if they had anything which would be a little cheaper and still give me plenty of power to the subs. they recommended several but the one that they most recommended was a 1000watt Kenwood KAC-X520 2-channel. what do you all think of that one?

The KAC-X520 is listed as 1000W MAX. Bridged RMS output is rated at 500Wx1@14.4V. Should be able to find one for roughly $199 online. In the end... the Kenwood is all around cheaper then the 500/1. In quality and price. It's not a piece of cr@p, but it's no 500/1.

in my opinion you would be better off spending the extra 20 bucks for a better amp like the hifonics i recomended earlier. Granted the kenwood isnt crap like 311 said but if you have a pretty nice sub/subs you should get a equally nice amp.

Well my 500/1 is in perfect shape, I have the manual and the box laying around somewhere. It wont be till after christmas till i can get a 1000/1 so thats when I would want to part with it. I'd like to get ~250 for it. If you need something soon let me know and I can see what I can get.

I have been happy with PPI or Precision Power, a little exspensive but great power output and sq quality. In my truck I ran 2 JL 12w3's with a PPI PCX 500x1 RMS great power and sound. With my new PPI PCX 1000x1 I could bottom out the subs. I used MB Quart Mids and Highs great sounding combo, and Pioneer 7400 Deck.

maybe keep me posted on when you are going to sell the 500/1 freeser but for now i'm going to start looking one elsewhere. i was kind of hoping to make it a christmas present so as i wouldn't have to pay for it.
