• System transfer, Mustang to Camaro

I might be switching cars this summer from my 99 Mustang to a 96 Camaro.
I have an all Alpine system in the stang that I will have to move over to the stang. I have a few questions about the F-body.

First off my deck, its an Alpine CDA-7893 that fits so nicely into the given slot in the stang. But looking at the camaro the deck location its odd shaped. Do I need a different unit to fit or how does this work?

Second. I have Alpine R’s all around, 6.5” component speakers in the front and 6x9 speakers in the rear. Are these useable in the camaro? Slight modification is ok, I did have to do a little modification to get them to work in the stang, no big deal.

Third off. I have 2 Alpine amps, a MRV F340 and a MRV T-420. They fit nicely on the back side of the back seats in the stang. Were can I stick these guys in the Camaro? I do want to maintain as much cargo room as possible. And it is a T-top so I need to keep the well area open for storage of the tops.

And fourth, I have a 12” R sub. I have it in a self made box in the corner of the stangs trunk. I made it so that it fits well out of the way so I can still use to trunk. Were can I stick this sub in the camaro? Again like above I need to keep the well clear for the tops and I want to still be able to put things in the car. i need a box thats about .7-1.0 cubic feet

I would prefer not to have the stereo components showing for all to see threw the hatch window.

Thanks for the help.
yes i have a mustang <br />please don\'t hurt me

The head unit opening is 1.5 din. Metra makes a few kits to allows your CD player to fit nicely. Your 6.5" components will transfer. The Camaros have 6.75" openings but many 6.5" will still fit. If yours don't, crutchfield sells adapters that will convert 6.75" into 6.5". But like I said, yours might fit without it. Mine did! (Infinity) Your 6X9's will not fit however. They are 6.75" in the rear as well. Not worth the modifications it would take to keep those. Sell em'. As far as the sub and amps go..... I have the answer to all your problems!!! www.subthump.com He makes amps racks to keep your amps out of sight and sub boxes that allow you to keep your storage/t-top area!!!! hehehehehe I knew you would like that! So looks like everything will still be usable... except the 6X9's... but that's no biggie.

can't the speaker openings in the back be modified to fit the 6x9s?

I thought i've seen Camaros on cardomain that have modified the opening for the 4" that is there stock so that the whole 6x9 could fit in that opening.

I might be wrong though.

Sure. Anything can been done. You can modify a 4" opening to fit a 15" subwoofer if you want. But like I said, it just not worth the time and effort in this particular case.
