  • Not and f-body, but need help

    Im trying to replace the rear speakers in a 1997 grand prix GT and cant get the speaker covers off!! Can anyone help?

    hahah that sounds like a really bad problem.. they dont just snap off like camaros and fbirds?

      That sounded helpful, I'm sure he tried that. Look and see if they have clips holding them in or you may just have to remove the whole rear deck.

        lol i try... [img]graemlins/rofl.gif[/img] i'm not a grand prix expert so i was just guessin... you prally do have to take off the rear deck now that i've heard that idea lol

          I know a friend back in high school had a boneville and he had to go in the trunk and the speakers screwed in from the bottom of the deck lid. Maybe check for that.

          Then again, another friend (now) had a Toyota Corolla (I think) and he basically had to take apart the rear part of his car to replace the speakers. He showed me install pictures - his back seat and the interior pieces from the back doors back were all sitting on the ground beside his car just so he could replace 2 speakers.

            NO
            In order to get the rear speakers off a GP you have to remove the rear seat first. You are gonna need a long 10mm socket to remove the upper part of the seat thats all really, everything else just unhooks itself. It's a b!tch my friend, but well worth it. Good luck [img]smile.gif[/img]

              I got it after 2 hours of taking the whole rear section of the car out, i finnally got to the rear deck and got those *****es out! Man, maybe i should have just paid the $60.
