Its about time I do this. It takes about 30 seconds for each motor to go up, and sometimes they don't make it without a little help. So I'm wondering if I should visit some junkyards and search for window motors, or buy new from someplace like Autozone or Advane Auto Parts. If I buy new, how will I know which one to get? Will there be a big difference between a $45 motor and an $85 motor?
Also, how hard is replacing the motor? Should I just go to the dealership? I may be able to get my cousin-in-law to help me install it, he works at a GM dealership.

If you can get help, get it! If you can afford the stealer to do it, LET THEM!! Doing window motors can be very dangerous because of the amout of weight of the window and the spring loaded sissor actuator. This can easliy take a finger or hand off... then what do you have.... I'd rather spend the few extra dollars to let someone that knows how to do it and keep my limbs on me.
Just my opinion thou....

if you have an extra person you should use them at least on the first one. Also make sure you use the clamp from the website you'll find when you do a search. the motor from autozone is the one I used on both sides, so yes they work. I did the swap over thanksgiving so I cant really tell you they've been working for a long time. But they do have a lifetime warrenty. the website you're looking for is something like window.sh.box.
I saw that before I posted, but was more wondering which motor to get, and how hard it was to install. I'll visit my cousin-in-law sometime after school and see what he says.

www.directauto.com decent product for a great price and lifetime warranty, cant beat em' i need to do my passenger window, i just dont feel like buying a motor after spending $2450 on my car (my portion of my car) the dealer also said they had a spare set of keys, did they... no, we are trying to get them to cough up a set, but we'll see if they break down
Autozone sells decent motors for like 50 bux with lifetime warranty. The install is not bad at all IMO and should take a first timer about an hour and half tops. Don't hesitate to do it yourself.
Ha, it will take a first timer well over 3 hours to do this job. The job is a pain. I've done it twice on mine. The first time took forever. When I finally got everything back in place just right, the window was out of alignment, so I had to fight that. Drilling the holes in the inside of the door was tedious. The 2nd time I replaced it, one of the install bolts had come loose and the gears weren't meshing anymore, and that pulled some of the fiberglass loose. I had to fabricate a brace to go on the fiberglass and riveted the new motor in place on it. It's held up since then, but it's not an easy job to pull off. Especially if you run into problems.

Damn?!?!!? You guys serious? I've done this three times myself. Once on the passenger side and twice on the driver's side. Follow the walkthrough in the mod ency, and you should have no problems. Don't know what else I can say..?
So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
