Was reading this and thought I should chime in. There is a kit available which allows for the headunit to be located up at the top of the cavity and the back end of the head unit rests on top of the tab. The head unit sits flush with the opening as well. My kit did not come with a fill in plate for the extra .5 DIN opening but that is an easy fix. Just another alternative out there for those who do not want to cut the tab in the back.
