  • Keyless Entry Remote problems...

Alright, when I bought my car used about 2 years ago, it came with a 4-botton key fob on the keychain, and a 4-botton key fob (brand new) in the glove box. The lady I bought it from said the old key fob (on the keychain) didn't work anymore, but the one in the glove box (brand new) just had to be programmed to the car. So I looked in the manual, and it said how to program it. I went through the steps, but no luck. I checked the numbers on both the key fobs, and they are as follows...

old one on keychain: GM 16207901-5
    new one: GM 16245100-29

After searching ebay, it seems the old one works with 97+ F-bodies, and the new one works with 96+ F-bodies... How true this is I have no idea.

The reason I want to get this working now is that I got my system in, and I want my alarm to go off when the door is open without the remote. But for that to happen, I need a working remote...

One thing I suspect is the receiever in my car is going bad. Or the batteries for both the key fobs are dead. I've tried switching batteries, but to no avail. Also, when I hit the hatch release button on the dash, my hatch doesn't release. But I do hear a little clicking noise near the glove box...

Can anyone help me? I don't really want to go to the dealership and spend $60+ for a new key fob...
