blew the L7..upgrading

ok here is what imk looking for in a sub, i want good SQ and atleast as much bass as the L7 10 had, my amp is a audiobahn 8000t(800 rms @ 2 ohms) dont diss this amp as it destroyed the 600 watt rms solo. My options are as follows:

save up for 2 jl w6(500) also looked into the fosgate P3's, they are 400 rms a piece which would match my amp pretty good? any other suggestions, also the P3's for 2 is the price of one JL so if i go JL i wont have bass for a while:(
im about to check out some alpines now, what do yall recommend?


EDIT: just checked the alpine TYPE R's and they seem pretty decent 500 rms a piece, 2 of these would do the trick i think, how good is the SQ on these and do they also have decent SPL? err if i can find some dual 4 ohm then i might get ahold of some of these...what ya think

yo man, get in touch with me, ive got two 05' type r's 12" dvc 4 ohm, along with matching amps for sale if you want em, everything is like new, im just looking to go with a really crazy setup, nothing is wrong with them at allll. maybe we can work out a deal.

im not really into 12's but i would consider them! and uhh no i dont want no damn 12 L7 did u realize in my post i wanted some kind of SQ u are nutz!!!:spank: and a soloX haha if ya can provide me an amp big enough to power one i would take it but once again:spank: and just to top things off:spank: ehh i have some time to decide but i will be subless for a few weeks!

2 orion 2500's should power that solo X just fine, about 4 yellow tops in the back to back up the amps.

You didn't really specify a price, but the IDMAX is great for SQ.

i would be interested in that, as i would only need one for my amp, another Q, is that magnet looks pretty big, and it doesnt tell me ne recommended volume for air space, would a sealed drivers side subthump box be too small for the ID?

It would be very close, as the depth of the box is 9" and the depth of the driver is 7.625". And the recommended air space for the 10" IDMAX is .6 - .9 cu. ft. And subthump.com says the box has .6 cu. ft. of space, so I'm guessing it will just fit and sound right.

VERY INTERESTING that is really what i need, i will look more into the company and see what ppl say, this might be my next sub, as 2 jl's will cost almost 500 plus a ttop box, i can just have a drivers side box like now, and be done with it!!! have u heard this speaker personally, how is the SQ and SPL

The IDMAX is an all-around outstanding sub. SQ....SPL.... ready to rival ANY of the top dawgs. (W7, Brahma, etc)

But I personally don't think it will be enough space for an IDMAX. If the box is .6cubes..... and after you subtract the displacement on that beast of a sub.... you're not left with much at all. If you're gonna do it, pour on the power.

so u are saying do not put it in that small of a box, my solo did AWESOME in that box, i had it in a 1 c.foot box in the maro and in this back it was JUST as loud!!!

I'm not saying don't do anything. Just that the box is awfully small. Characteristics of a small sealed box is suffering low frequency extension and efficiency. Hence my statement, "pour on the power".

96firebird, i know you know your stuff, so another question i might ask, is there a decent sub i can put in that small of a box in the 600+ rms range that would atleast have decent SQ and SPL, something a lil better than the solo atleast, cause i have ttops and want to keep the holder, and one 10 would be much cheaper, and i can achieve what i want with 1 10, really i was happy with the L7 had nice SPL could have been better SQ but it was an SPL sub, so i was pleased with it! i just want some::dj: if i go with 2 10's i have to buy the 2 subs, and a ttop box which is kinda getting costly, if i go with 1 i only have to get a subthump box! thanks chet
