Its for the passenger side, but it's the same thing. And don't be afraid to work with fiberglass..... it's actually pretty darn forgiving.

I built a few stealth boxes similar to that out of wood. Interesting how that person built theirs...I built mine with lots of complex angles and miter cuts...it took forever. I built mine one piece at a time, starting with the baffle (the front) first, then the bottom then I went from there. Theres really no blueprints available to build something like this, its all trial and error. I'll try to find some pics of the ones I built. Good luck

Hows it sound? Do you use a peice paper/carboard to get the shape of the front and rest of the encloser and work from their with measurements?

I was going to use a 10" sub but I already had a dual voice coil 8" sub laying around so I just used that. it actually sounded nice...I wasn't going to enter a bass competition or anything but lets just say it sounded way better than those wimpy Monsoon subs.

I used poster board to make the template. I just kept trimming a little here and there till I got the shape I wanted. I still have a couple fronts already cut out laying around. Naa, I'll look at it tomorrow and try it out myself. All I got right now is wally world Lightning Audio 10in sub, it actually sounds good and gets loud enough for me, I'v been told told that they dont last very long but I'v had it since September. I cant stand having a sub box taking up more than half of the trunk anymore lol.

Ok I got the face of the box built, and it fits perfectly, being at 19, this is the first time I ever tried fabricating anything, I'll have my dad help me with the rest of the building.

I made my own from MDF, here's my basic steps:

My box had 7 pieces - bottom, front, back, left, right, and 2 triangular top pieces. Only a few right angles in the whole thing. Sub is a 10" a/d/s aluminum.

1. Make a mock-up with cardboard. Then make a second cardboard mockup using the pieces of the first with the clean edges that your first one won't have. Make sure the second mockup fits.

2. Cut the MDF pieces out. Due to the messed up angles, you'll have to do some sanding or cut some pieces a bit smaller to get to the same outside dimensions of the cardboard piece. Super tight isn't critical, I had up to 1/4" gaps in spots. They will be taken care of later. Honest!

3. Tape the wood pieces together inside the compartment and make sure they fit. Once you glue, no going back.

4. Cut the hole for the sub. Make sure you have the clearance around the magnet etc when the box is together.

5. Glue it together. Play it safe, a panel or two at a time, getting the positioning right. Use tape or whatever it takes to hold things in position.

Remember those big gaps you thought would never be sealed? Here's what I used to get rid of them. I glued my box with a 2-part epoxy resin filled with Cab-O-Sil (sometimes seen as Cabosil). Cab-O-Sil is fumed silica, and a little Cab-O-Sil can do a lot of thickening. I made a thicker paste which was just about self-supporting. Slapped it into the gaps real well to fill them in, and the stuff stay put until cure. Any air bubbles or spots where it did sag a bit I refilled with another batch. Be messy, overfill, don't worry. Concentrate on getting the MDF in the right place and filling those gaps.

You can get good 2-part epoxies and Cab-O-Sil at places like surfboard supply shops and other small composites suppliers on the web. Let me know if you have questions on any of this stuff, I work with it all the time.

6. Sand off the excess resin. A dremel with a sanding drum works well, and smaller burrs will do inside corners well. Might want to wear a dust mask if you dremel since you'll be shooting powder all over.

7. Finish with carpet or whatver you want to wrap it with. I cut the carpet short of the sub hole so the sub doesn't sit on the fabric and leak air (put sub on hole and trace the border)

8. Drill a hole just big enough to get the speaker cable into

9. Install the sub. I used some silicone caulking at the speaker wire hole to seal it better, and the foam weatherstrip on the sub hole to seal the face.

10. Thump away!

BTW, my stealth box is held in with velcro. a nice patch of the industrial stuff on the bottom of the box, matching patch on the bottom of the compartment, and it hasn't budged in 5 years of autocross, road racing, potholed roads, you name it.

Nice, i really like the idea you had (zlexxis) of using velcro to make it stay in place better.

This is a good thread for me seeing as im going to be working on my box soon, and will be in the market for a 10" sub

Done!! We got it built and installed! It sounds a little quieter than before, is this normal for a box thats a little smaller and not sitting in the middle of the trunk? Other than that, it sounds good, a little boomy'r than before in the higher bass frenquencies, which is good cause I listen to alot of rock music.

Heres some pics. The quality is kinda crappy, some dirtbag stolled my camera so now I'm using my dad's. GRRRR theives piss me off!

Oh yeah those little pieces of white cloth you see. I stuffed those into those two areas where air was leaking. I'll get some carpet on the face of the box soon.

Yah, for the small sealed box getting no leaks at all is critical, otherwise you lose a lot of efficiency.
