  • Overheating aftermarket head units

OK, I've tried two different head units now (a Sony and a Kenwood), and both overheat after being driven at about 75% for 15 minutes or so. They work fine in other cars.

Is there an airflow problem in the f-body console? I would think it'd have plenty of space considering it's a regular DIN sized head unit in the DIN and a half slot, but I've seen the same thing from 2 different mfg's now.

Anyone else encountered this, or am I the only one?

    Re: Overheating aftermarket head units

Haven't ever had a headunit shut down on me, but every one I have used has gotten VERY hot.... but I have had the car in Florida for a year, then Hawaii for six and now back in Florida. Hot as hell, but never any actual problems.
