I have a 2000 firebird with T-tops. I have 2 10' subs in the back with a walmart type wooden sub box. it weighs so much its almost not worth having it in so i was wondering is there another type of lighter box i can get for it, like fiberglass.and will a fiberglass sub box make the subs sound different...like worse. If so are there any other sub boxes that are light weight for me to use.

Re: Fiberglass sub box?
most hardcore comp vehicles use fiberglass these days. mdf is what you get at best buy. when you're getting judged on your install and creativeness you go with something else. as far as performance goes, as long as it has the correct air space and holds the sub(s), a box is a box

Re: Fiberglass sub box?
You guys are talking about two totally different installs with totally different goals. For pure SPL....MDF is easily the most common choice. For a real show car, fiberglass is the way to go.
Superman, nobody sells fiberglass drop-ins for the camaro/firebird. Sorry. But I would really think about taking a crack at it yourself. It's not NEARLY as hard as you may think. Fiberglass is pretty damn forgiving IMO.
