I am going to install my panasonic 650u headunit in my 1994 firebird tomorrow. It is rated to put out 50 watts max x 4 @4ohms. I know it really doesn't put out that much, but I also know that the factory speakers in my car are supposed to run off of an amplifier built into the car. What I want to know is do I need to disable or bypass this amplifier in order to install my radio or can I simply install it like any other car radio. I have already purchased the wiring harness and the install kit from walmart. Any help is appreciated, I have never installed a stereo in a car that has more the four speakers in it from the factory this is why I ask.

In short, an aftermarket headunit makes no difference no matter the system installed. Replace away!:)
