the one you gave a link too is ok.. but 2 of my friends have headunits just like that.. so i think i'll keep looking..lol thanks anyway

i found a dual headunit that i kinda liked..i'm sure that all of you think that it would be no good.. but i thought i would ask your opinions on dual... 2 of my friends have dual headunits and they seem to be decent... i'm sure i will only have my car for around another year maybe a little more.. and will probably sell the cd player with it.. so it doesnt have to last me forever

Re: looking for a new headunit

Headunits are the most important part, so it all depends on what you are going for, what other pieces you are using...

Dual actually is one of the least high quality units out there, but does wonders for my brothers gf.

I personally won't run anything not Clarion, Denon, Mcintosh, Nakamichi, or Eclipse out of all this new years products. But I run all high end equipment, and setup generally for SPL or SQ. These days more SQ being I grew out of the 2 15s and 2000 watts rms to them in my '89 Iroc...

        ~edit~
Should have added here, another thing to look at is what the deck will do for you.
Anyone running a basic system without a bunch of sound processors and such, a Pioneer deck is great, they have a ton of sound shaping and control. Although they are nothing quality wise in comparrison to their older counterparts, they do the trick, and have lots of cool stuff.

well i have 2 12'' p3 subs and a 1200 rms amp.. thats all i have besides stock speakers.. and my headunit right now is fine working with them.. but it doesnt work when it flips out.. all the controls on the headunit dont work.. i have to use the remote to do everything. i use my ipod with it all the time because almost 90% of the time it wont eject cds anymore.. its just falling all to peices so i want to get something diferent.. u said ''dual actually is one of the least high quality units out there'' so its low quality? will it be any better or worse than the sony one i have? its like a mx 8800 or somethin... i didnt know anything about anything when i bought it i just liked it at the time..

Dual is lower grade stuff. One a scale of 1 to 10... I'd give them a 3. Pioneer would probably be a 5 in my book when it comes to headunits. As for Sony.... their Xplod line sucked, so I've kinda been anti-Sony since then. I'd put Dual equal with guys like Audiopipe.

We arn't saying that they make crap or that we hate pioneer, they do make a decent product, its just not high end. And as far as durability goes they are also nice there.

As for your sony going out, yes it would be a far degrade to get a Dual. Also not a fan of the Explod line, and being they stopped the Mobile ES which wasn't as bad, I never was a big fan on Sony Audio equipment, TVs are nice! :)

There is a deck you can take a look at its not the high end of Clarion, but they do put out good nice clean sound. And the price lines up with about what you were saying, plus don't forget you actually get a warranty with these guys and not only 30-90 days.

Re: looking for a new headunit

so dual is a step down from sony... blah.. i looked all around on crutchfield just tryin to find somethin that i liked the looks of and didnt really see anything... i like the ones that have a volume knob and then like the < > buttons to change songs on the other side.. and i never really saw that many of them.. unless i just completly overlooked

i do kinda like that clarion one nikos posted tho.. i think i may end up ordering it... i did just earn $200 today.. so i have some money.. lol

another really quick question.. i might have just over looked on that clarion headunit.. is there a set of aux RCA inputs on the back... i have to run my amp RCA's and then i have RCA connection to my ipod that i use to listen to music in my car all the time.. will i still be able to use both of those?

I also know there is an add on cable that gives it full control of your ipod so you can control it from the deck itself. I think that cable runs like $20-$30 but would give you full control.

But if you just want an auxilary input you have to step to this model

I just put this deck in my friends car, its a hot little deck costs a bit more, but see if you like it. Also steps up the voltage on the outputs and gives you a independant non-fading sub out with a -6 +6 volume control thats seperate, it also has its own sub out crossover. It's a nice deck!

my pioneer deh-p770mp has to be better than that clarion deck, it was a heck of a lot more expensive at least

In actuallity the DEH-P770mp is about 1/2 of the deck the Clarion is, the only reason it costs so much more is its pretty little displays. And if you didn't catch the price on the clarion its on closeout it retails at a place right down the road from me for $499

eh, it does what i want, and sounds damn good from my perspective, it would be more than adequate for anybody not in competitions
