    Re: 12" sub

if you want an extremly loud sub theres no need to get 2 of them for 200$ each....spend 400$ on one and be louder then 2?? what i HIGHLY recommend (and im sure a great amount of people will back me up) is a 12" ECLIPSE Titanium sub. You can get one brand new shipped to your door off ebay for under 400$ which is one hell of a deal because they retail in audio stores for 600!

I have a 10" eclipse titanium in a custom built slot ported box and i hit 147 DB's with it on the dashboard and 150 DB's under the glove box. thats louder then a kid that had 3 JL w3's that DB'd that day!

if you have the right deck, and amp set-up you will clean house. I can drive down roads setting off car alarms. My windshield whippers bounce not to mention one day my rear view mirror fell off when i was driving. No i dont have it up this loud as daily driving. I dont even turn it up anymore unless a Hot shot pulls up next to me with his civics system bumping...then i just piss him off my turning mine off for a second and setting off his car alarm :)...

search the web for reviews on eclipse titaniums...you wont be dissapointed also you can check out my car domain in my memeber profile...i have stereo pics in there if you want any custom box idea's and such

i had memphis at one time...and it was nice at lower bass levels but once you turned it up it got distorted so i could count that out....as far as kickers go i hear good things about them but have never heard them for myself...and the alpine type R im sure is good...alpine is a real good company and do great work on their products....as of right now out of your choices i would aim towards the Type R

Eclipse and Alpine may be loud subs, but they are both designed more around SQ then SPL....

If you want a SPL sub go after an SPL big name competitor. Not Alpine or Eclipse, although they may scream, they are not going to blow away the rest of the market in spl.

          150db from 1 10"??? I think someone had a mic set a little wrong.

          The record is 147db off 1 15".

i dont think they did...we did it a few times...and on different days. The owner set it himself

i have the Alpine deck, Hifonics zues 1500 Watt 2 channel amp (bridged) and a audiobahn digital capacitor....the sub is in a ported box facing right up towards the glass...i have t tops also....camaros are awesome for stereo systems because they are designed like a horn inside for sound...the sound bounces off the glass from back and travels up making it louder then most cars

and 150 was on the ground...which does not count

Not unheard of..... but hard as hell. I've seen UNGODLY numbers from a single 10". I'm talking high 160's.:omg: :omg: :omg: Search for a "Nate Munson". So where the 147 off a 15" came from, I donno. I could beat that with a completely stock car.

Well.... you're looking for SPL from a small sealed box. Similar to a drag car from a V6 fbod...:stp: ... If you want loud, go Digital Designs in a vented enclosure.

Just wondering. I know alot of Jap cars get rattle noise, trunk lids & such from big woofs.
Do our cars, 4 gens, have that problem? I want to add a couple of 10's in the back, but am thinking of the body rattle.

I haven't had any problem with rattle, and I have 2 10's sitting in my trunk.

If it does, fix em'. Find out what's vibrating and wedge something in there so it can't move. The big plastic panel on the underneath of the hatch is a very common spot. Tail lights are probably second.
